The Art Studio is open daily from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Children and their adults are encouraged to drop in and create artwork together!
To kick off our Transportation theme this month, we are providing information on how materials, people, and animals are transported. A large packing crate will be in the studio the entire month and the children will be encouraged to draw a picture answering the question, “What is in that crate?” We are also focusing on transportation as it relates to going to school. Other ongoing projects are “Painting the Castle Playhouse” and “Playing in the Puppet Theatre Barn.” We are also providing a table of CMoP books and toys. Following are the new projects introduced each week.
August 31st through September 5th: Make a silly “Monster Bookmark” for that favorite book you are reading.
September 6th through September 12th: Create a gift for that special grandparent for Grandparents’ Day on September 12th. All the materials are provided to make a refrigerator magnet containing a special poem for grandma and grandpa.
September 14th through September 19th: “The Wheels of the Bus Go Round and Round!” After reading poems about riding the bus, have fun creating your own school bus with the people in it.
September 21st through September 26th: “Stop, Go, And Slow!” Traffic lights are important in keeping us safe when walking to school. Read poetry about traffic lights. Then review the colored lights by making a traffic light.
September 28th through October 3rd: Zoom! – Moving through the City.” We are observing the painting “Broadway Boogie-Woogie” by the Dutch artist, Piet Mondrian. Inspired by New York City, it creates a sense of movement with red, yellow, blue, and black geometric shapes. Create your own cityscape using those colored geometric shapes in a collage.
