Stop by the Children’s Garden to explore the science, history, and cultural significance of the traditional “Three Sisters” planting method, a practice rooted in the agricultural traditions of many Indigenous communities. In this hands-on activity, children will discover how corn, beans, and squash work together as companion plants—each providing structure, nutrients, or protection for the others. Using sensory tools like playdough, pipe cleaners, and wax sticks, we’ll model the plants and their relationships, making the connections between biology, agriculture, and engineering design come to life in a playful, tactile way.
