Illustrator Tanja Bauerle will read her book, The Park Our Town Built. In this story, the mayor wants a community park and playground for the children and enlists a group of kids to join her in asking one of the citizens to donate some of his land. When he agrees, he joins all the families and friends who set out to build swings, benches, gardens, and a fountain. The whole town comes together to create a beautiful park and celebrate with a grand picnic and beautiful fireworks when the job is done.

Tanja Bauerle is an award-winning children’s book illustrator who is originally from Germany, but grew up outside Melbourne, Australia. She runs her own graphic design & branding business and holds a degree in Computer Animation. Tanja often visits schools to encourage kids to read, write and draw. Tanja is currently writing and illustrating several of her own books, including a historical fiction graphic novel. She is also the Assistant Regional Advisor for Arizona for the SCBWI.
