Americans love visiting museums. According to the American Alliance of Museums, each year, there are roughly 850 million visits to museums in the United States, which is more than those of all major league sporting events and theme parks. There’s an exciting exhibit at the Children’s Museum of Phoenix — “The Pigeon Comes to Phoenix!” If you’re looking for places for kids in Phoenix, you should check this out. Here are three things to look forward to at the exhibit.

1. The Pigeon Arcade

There are two fun activities at the Pigeon Arcade. Your child can use the hot dog launcher to try to hit either The Pigeon or The Duckling with a hot dog. Then, have your child try their hand at the cookie plinko game. They’ll use handles to move a cookie past holes to get it to the Duckling’s mouth. They can also send the cookie down a ramp to The Pigeon.

2. Pigeon Palace Theater

At the Pigeon Palace Theater, your kid can learn how to use a projector with flip book movies. Turn a crank and look through a viewer to see The Pigeon flap his wings. Then there is the Praxinoscope, an early form of entertainment that involves spinning a tabletop and looking in mirrors to see images. Your child will be able to see Elephant Gerald and Piggie come to life. Learning about historical things like this makes this one of the best places for kids in Phoenix.

3. The Bus Depot

At the Bus Depot, your child can be occupied for a long time. They can use elephones to talk into a phone receiver and make their voice sound like Gerald or Piggie. They can also walk around the depot dressed in a wearable bus, or they can even step into a life-size version of the bus from “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!” You can get a photo of them sitting in the driver’s seat.

Those are just a few of the things that your child can do at this exhibit. The Children’s Museum of Phoenix is one of the best places for kids in Phoenix. We’re always adding new exhibits. Contact us today to learn more and be sure to visit soon!
