Going to the children’s museum never gets old and is an exciting and fun experience for parents and kids. Like any outing with children, you may need to pack certain items. Here are some items to bring along on your fun childrens museum day.

1. Water Bottles

Childrens museums can be big or at least involve various activities. With all the walking and hours spent there, you and the kids will get thirsty, so make sure you can stay hydrated. While there are water fountains around, it’s best to keep your own on hand.

2. Snacks

At some point, the kids will likely need a snack, and you may not be unsure about the selection at the museum cafe. Take dry items like dried fruit, granola bars, or cheese crackers, as they’re tasty and won’t be messy. Plus, you want something to give everyone enough energy to keep walking around for a while.

3. A Camera

A fun childrens museum day won’t be complete without some snapshots. Capture those moments when your child sees dinosaur bones in person for the first time or is having a blast at the science simulation. If you have a smartphone, you can take some fun videos as well.

4. Comfortable Clothing

Kids love to explore and engage in hands-on activities, so dress them in comfortable clothes and shoes that allow for easy movement. Accidents happen, especially when kids are having a blast. Pack an extra set of clothes in case spills or messy play require a wardrobe change.

5. Money for Souvenirs

Like other museums, the kids museum will have a gift shop. If there was an exhibit your child liked, you find a memento to keep. From dinosaur mugs to books and pencils, you have plenty of options to pick from.

6. A First Aid Kit

Children can fall and get a cut or scrape anywhere. You can easily pack a small first aid kit in your bag. At the very least, keep some bandaids and anti-bacteria wipes on you just in case.

7. A Stroller or Backpack Carrier

Depending on the number of children or their age, you may have to carry them around at some point. If your child can still fit in a stroller, bring it along just in case. You can also use the stroller or carrier to hold other items on this list as well.

8. Your Museum Tickets

You can’t get in without your ticket. There are approximately 850 million visits each year to American museums, more than the attendance for all major league sporting events and theme parks combined. Needless to say, a fun childrens museum day may have a long ticket line, so try to get yours in advance.

Going to a kids museum is always a fun time. You can learn about animals, dinosaurs, science, the planets, and more. Make sure you have everything you need for your special day. Our local museum looks forward to seeing your family!
