September 15th – October 31st
Visit the Museum’s Art Studio and view the work of FEATURED ARTIST, ESMERALDA GARCIA TORRES. Her bright and fun crochet tapestries center around animals and characters she loves. She dedicates most of her pieces to her loved ones, especially her mom, who taught her crochet basics. Torres feels “it is important to remember art can be anything that you want it to be and mean whatever you want it to mean.”

FRIDA KAHLO SELF-PORTARITS – Frida Kahlo was a Mexican artist known for her self-portraits, she said, “I paint myself because I know myself best.” Her paintings often include a pet. Can you create a self-portrait by drawing yourself? Use the mirrors at our Star Bar to create your own self-portrait for Hispanic Heritage Month.

Visitors will experience the beauty and joy of traditional folk dances from Mexico, Central America and South America with a performance by FIESTA MEXICANA DANCE COMPANY, the official folkloric group for the City of Phoenix.
