Discover an array of events and activities that showcase Hispanic art, music, and culture, and honor the rich diversity of Hispanic heritage.

Sept. 15th– 20th 

Guatemalan Barriletes – Build your own colorful kite like those from the Giant Kite Festival in Guatemala.

Sept. 29th | 10:00am – 12:00pm

Cooking with Krystal – Toddler Tastes- Southwest Black Beans Scoop & Press – It’s toddler time in the KIDchen! Join Chef Krystal this month as she leads STEAM inspired cooking classes for toddlers. Pinch, press, and fold up some Southwest Black Beans. Chef Krystal focuses on plant-based cooking while encouraging bravery in the kitchen. This is a drop-in experience; however, space is limited. To respect other guests and keep things comfortable, a set number of families will be welcomed every 15 minutes.

Sept. 26th- 30th & Oct 1st-15th 

Frida Kahlo was a Mexican artist known for her self-portraits, she said, “I paint myself because I know myself best.” Can you create a self-portrait by drawing yourself? Use the mirrors at our Star Bar to create your own self-portrait for Hispanic Heritage Month.

Sept. 27th – Oct. 4th 

Celebrate the start of Hispanic Heritage Month by making your very own Papel Picado Banner in the Art Studio!

Oct. 2nd (Free First Friday Night) | 6:00pm – 7:00pm 

Harmony Project Phoenix proudly presents the talents of their young musicians from three vibrant ensembles. Together, these ensembles embody Harmony Project Phoenix’s mission: building community, fostering culture, and transforming lives through the power of music. Oct. 2nd (Free First Friday Night) | 4:00pm – 8:00pm

The Phoenix Public Libraries’ 40ft Bookmobile will be on site for October’s First Friday Night! The Bookmobile​ is a fully functioning traveling library that gives community access to library resources such as: checking out books, movies, CDs, & DVDs, signing up for a library card, checking out culture passes and a variety of other tools for school. The bus will be here from 4pm-8pm

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month in the KIDchen with Chef Krystal! Explore plant-based recipes inspired by Hispanic cultures. Chef Krystal encourages bravery in trying new flavors while fostering respect for the traditions behind each dish.

Oct. 10th | 10:00am

Design your own alebrije collage! Mix shapes, colors, and patterns to create a colorful creature that reflects your creativity and imagination. Alebrijes were invented by Pedro Linares López in Mexico City and are colorful, animal-like creatures that represent the dream world of their maker. Can you make a brave alebrije? Or an alebrije full of kindness?

Come experience the beauty and joy of traditional folk dances from Mexico, Central America and South America with a performance by Fiesta Mexicana Dance Company, the official folkloric group for the City of Phoenix. ¡Sé valiente y baila!
