Diamond Johnson is a black indigenous multidisciplinary artist from the Navajo Nation. She grew up in Tuba City, Arizona, but spent much of her childhood traveling between there and the border town of Flagstaff, Arizona. Her art is a reflection of the desert landscapes of her childhood, her cultural and spiritual teachings, and the turbulence of navigating her mixed identity. Diamond sells her creations under the moniker “Before the AM”. Before the AM consists of unique polymer clay jewelry and accessories, all fashioned after the shape of an eye. This and her other hand-crafted findings can be seen at markets around the greater Phoenix area. Learn more @before.the.am

Adara Damon is half Navajo and half White Mountain Apache. She’s from a small community, called Rough Rock in the Navajo reservation and is from a very traditional household of artists. Her family paints, draws, and makes jewelry and sash belts. Her aunt and uncle’s drawings inspired her to create her art. She’s also inspired by her culture, tribe, the homes on the reservations, grannies, livestock, the fresh air, beautiful mountains, and the hogans that hold beautiful memories, celebrations, ceremonies, and the protection they provide.
