Your principal approved the bus. Now the trip form wants a line for Arizona State Standards, and it’s due Friday. Good news: we’ve done that homework for you. Sixteen of our exhibits are mapped to state standards for preschool through third grade, and the full chart lives on our field trip booking page. Here’s how to read it and put it to work.
How Our Exhibits Map to Arizona State Standards
Our standards chart runs 37 pages, but it’s simpler than it looks. Each standard sits down the left side. Across the top are 16 hands-on exhibits, from the three-story Climber to the Grand Ballroom. An X means that space supports that skill.
It covers the Arizona Early Learning Standards for preschoolers, then kindergarten through third grade, across language arts, math, science, social studies, health, PE, and the arts.
Skim it once. Patterns jump out fast. Some skills, like speaking clearly, show up everywhere. Others live in just a few spaces, which helps you plan your route.
Kindergarten Science in Motion
One kindergarten science standard on our chart asks students to investigate how pushes and pulls make things move. That’s tough to teach from a worksheet. It’s easy to feel on a trike.
Our chart ties that standard to six exhibits: Whoosh!, Move It!, Pedal Power, the Pit Stop, the Noodle Forest, and the Market. Picture a student pedaling through the Pedal Power car wash, then pushing a loaded grocery cart across the Market. Same push. Very different loads.
Ask your class which one took more muscle. Then ask why. That conversation is the standard, happening out loud.
Math and Money at the Market
The Market is a child-sized grocery store built for role play. Kids fill carts with play fruit, weigh and measure peas, and take turns as shopper and cashier.
For kindergarten, our chart connects the Market and the Texture Café to a social studies standard about knowing that people use money to buy goods and services. Add the counting and sorting skills from the early learning standards, and one aisle covers a lot.
Want an easy task? Hand each group a three-item shopping list. Let them shop. Then have them count the total.
Literacy in the Book Loft and DramaRama
Kindergarten reading standards ask students to retell familiar stories with key details. Our chart links that skill to the Book Loft and DramaRama, among others.
In the Book Loft, kids snuggle into a cozy corner with a good book. In DramaRama, they grab costumes and act a story out. Retelling becomes performing, and shy readers often find their voice on stage.
Pick a class read-aloud before your trip. Ask one chaperone group to act it out in DramaRama. You’ll hear characters, setting, and key details in five minutes. Plus giggles.
Preschool Field Trip Ideas Rooted in Early Learning
For preschool groups, the early learning standards cover the whole child: language, math, movement, feelings, and curiosity. Play builds all of them at once. The American Academy of Pediatrics explains how play builds language and self-regulation skills together, and Head Start’s school readiness guidance tracks that same growth.
Try these on your visit:
- Build a tower in BlockMania, then count the blocks.
- Sort fruit by color in the Market.
- Climb, crawl, and balance on the Climber.
Keep it simple. Little ones lead.

Bring Your Class to Learn Through Play
Standards don’t have to feel like paperwork. Here, they look like a trike ride, a grocery run, and a story told in costume. Your students will remember that. Pick your exhibits, match them to Arizona State Standards, and send us your field trip request. We can’t wait to welcome your class to the historic Monroe School building.
